Cheniere lifts 2026 EBITDA guidance after Q3 profit jump

Q3 net income rose 12% to $1.17 billion. The filing raises EBITDA guidance and discloses a QatarEnergy supply agreement.

Cheniere Energy raised 2026 consolidated adjusted EBITDA guidance to $8.75-$9.25 billion after third-quarter net income of $1.17 billion, up 12 percent. It also disclosed an October agreement with QatarEnergy for up to 4 mtpa, the quarter's clearest Gulf link. This is analysis, not trading advice.

The Gulf Barrel Desk · 3 min read

Cheniere Energy raised its 2026 guidance after a third quarter in which net income attributable to the company reached $1,170 million, up from $1,049 million a year earlier, according to the exhibit it filed with the SEC. Total revenue was $6,173 million, up 39 percent, which matches the figure LNG Prime reported. Nine-month profit is lower because of derivative fair-value swings, so the operating picture needs the adjusted measures. This is analysis, not trading advice.

Guidance rose by about $850 million at the midpoint

Cheniere's release raises 2026 consolidated adjusted EBITDA guidance to $8.75-$9.25 billion from $7.90-$8.40 billion. It raises distributable cash flow attributable to Cheniere to $6.05-$6.55 billion from $5.30-$5.80 billion. The midpoints rise by $850 million and $750 million respectively. Third-quarter consolidated adjusted EBITDA was $1,900 million against $1,608 million, up 18 percent. These are company guidance ranges, not outcomes, and they stand until the next filing.

Higher export volumes sit behind the quarter

Cheniere exported 188 cargoes totaling 684 TBtu in the third quarter, against 163 cargoes and 586 TBtu a year earlier, according to its release. That is growth of 15 percent in cargoes and 17 percent in volume. Midscale Train 7 at Corpus Christi Stage 3 reached substantial completion in August, which the company says lifts production capacity by over 20 percent. Revenue grew faster than volume, and the release does not break that gap down for the quarter.

Nine-month profit falls on derivative marks

Nine-month net income attributable to Cheniere was $736 million, against $3,028 million in the same period of 2025. The release says the decrease is primarily due to $3.6 billion of unfavorable variances in the fair value of derivative instruments, predominantly on long-term Integrated Production Marketing agreements, before tax and non-controlling interests. It partly offsets this with higher volumes, slightly higher margins per MMBtu and a nonrecurring excise tax credit. Adjusted net income of $750 million strips these marks out.

The Gulf link is a Qatar contract, not a benchmark

The release says Sabine Pass Liquefaction and Corpus Christi Liquefaction signed a sale and purchase agreement with QatarEnergy in October 2026, covering up to 4 mtpa from the early 2030s through 2054. One mtpa is subject to a positive final investment decision on Sabine Pass Expansion Phase 1, which the company says has not been taken. Federal siting and export approvals for that project remain pending, so the volume is a plan, not a loaded cargo.

What to watch next: whether the Sabine Pass decision is taken, and whether the next quarter's adjusted figure holds near $750 million once derivative marks are removed. Both are data points to track, not forecasts, and nothing here is a recommendation to trade.
